Clarification: still in Costa Rica - expanding to Asia - now hiring!

Clarification:  Compass Group International still (and will continue) to have a strong presence in Central America…especially in Costa Rica!

due to “timing” and “demand” we feel now is the time to expand to Southeast Asia…specifically Thailand.  Compass started in Central America in 2002 and we’ll be here for many more decades - nothing has changed:)  we still work with the top residential developers in Costa Rica!

we’re just adding more “destinations” to our portfolio due to the demand for countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Bali and Philippines.  in the next 6 months we will be interviewing and hiring 40-50 new “International Real Estate Consultants” for Compass Group International (Asia)…we’ll keep you posted when ‘we’re accepting  new applicants.

see you in Thailand!

D:  you must be gay.
Q:  you think i’m husky?
D:  i think your FAT.
Q:  so there’s a 6 month warranty?
D:  it expires the minute you walk out of my store.

3 common mistakes most people make in life:

1)  they live in the “past” and/or they cannot let it go.

i use to dwell in my past failures and regrets - it kept me up at nights and made me an angry person.  getting “hung-up” in the past is the #1 reason why most people fail in life.

2)  they forget to live in the “present.”

so many times i hear people say, “i’ll to that tomorrow.”  procrastination and terrible “work ethic” is what distinguishes the 3% from the rest.  for some…there is NO TOMORROW - do it TODAY!

3)  they forget to plan for their “future.”

we live in a country with so much wealth, but a typical American has very little to show…only lots of DEBIT!  you never know what the future brings - but it’s good to be prepared.  that means paying off your home first and your car/s…you should also have at least 12 months of reserve.  if you don’t need the room then sell your big-ass home and down-size.  i know it’s hard but this is what your so called “financial consultant  fails to tell you.  what you “buy now” is “taking away FUTURE” tomorrow!  plan wisely.

if you surround yourself with materialistic and hypocritical douche-bags…you will become one as well.  your friends should love you for who you are “inside” not what you can buy them…or show off with your possessions.  i’m only 39 yrs old and i’ve experienced and seen more bad shit go down for 2-3 lifetimes.  give yourself a “reality-check” every quarter - your happiness depends on it.

what i learned from spending this last week in Bangkok, Thailand:

1) people that have a strong family structure tend to be happiest.  Asian people believe, “no matter what - family comes first!”  this is something i’ve always known but Thailand has confirmed that.

2) everyone’s physically different, but i dropped 1% body fat, gained a few pounds of muscle from a diet mostly concentrated of fresh tropical fruits and seafood - eating only 3 times a day.  i walked at least 3 - 4 miles a day, worked out every other day. it also helped that i would get a 2hr Thai or foot massage for $15 every other day to aid in recovery.  like i said, everyone’s different, but i’ve been eating less meals for the last 2 months and feel it’s unnecessary for me to be consuming 5-6 mini meals a day…regardless of what research says.

3) “home is truly where the heart is.” Thailand is a wonderful country that puts a permanent smile on my face.  it’s extremely safe and it has everything to offer…and more!  i can escape to a place of complete solitude (free of people) or celebrate with 1,000’s of people in one of the busiest streets in Bangkok.  Thailand is a special place filled with happy (and polite) people, adventure, history, and plenty of tasty food!

working 40-80hrs a week is one thing, making a 6 to 7 figure annual income is another…BUT, learning how to balance everything is true “happiness.”  one can make a shit load of money - be humble and nice at the same time.  one can have material things and be giving at the same time.  ”balance” is key.

Thailand has helped me find my “balance.”

this country has helped shaped me into a more “well-rounded” peson, but most of all…Thailand is my “happy place:)”

i hope you find your “happy place” too.

You need to experience this at least once in your life…

Bangkok, Thailand:  just past 2:30am and i’ve just experienced something that everyone should do at least ONCE…the “Songkran festival.”

imagine thousands of people from all over thailand (and foreigners from around the world) gathering on a one mile strip armed with cold buckets of water, super soakers and a white power mixed with water.  as you walk down the street you are greeted with cold water and a smear of the powered mixture across your face…”happy new year, and welcome to Thailand” is how they greeted me - along with a smile:)  the music was coming from all directions, food vendors lining the streets to feed the hungry party-goers.

Songkran is one of the best cultural experiences i’ve ever had in a foreign country.  the Thai people really know how to “kick of the New year” with a bang!  i will post pictures when i get home.  it’s always hard to leave - but i’ll be back soon:)

Thank you Thailand for giving me a this “life-long” memory.
